Devin Tegen shot some pretty fun footage of me whitewater paddle boarding one of my favorite rapids on the Lower Deschutes near Maupin. Oak Springs is a tricky Class III+ that is pretty easy but has some consequences if you mess up. Sharp lava rock islands make braided channels below the main drop that must be navigated to avoid injury. Few paddle boarders are running Oak Springs.
